The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC CDMX) reported that during their surveillance activities in Chapultepec Forest, specifically in the Cuauhtémoc borough, they secured a rattlesnake that was located within the vicinity of the cultural venue.
Security agents, stationed at gate eight of the urban park, called for support from the General Directorate of the Animal Surveillance Brigade (BVA) upon encountering a green reptile measuring approximately one meter and 20 centimeters in length.
The snake was handed over to the BVA, who kept it with the necessary precautions in a special container for its transfer to the agency’s facilities in the Xochimilco borough. There, veterinary zootecnic doctors conducted an assessment of the animal's health before handing it over to the authorities responsible for its care.
In a statement, citizens were reminded of the importance of caring for, respecting, and not mistreating animals, as part of efforts to protect urban wildlife. It is worth mentioning that the SSC recently participated in the rescue of a ringtail in the Iztacalco borough, demonstrating its commitment to the protection of wildlife in the city.
